Update on ICM fic/links

Just an FYI for any of you who were looking for my fic: I’ve gotten past (and over, I suppose) the privacy incident from this summer, and my fic has been restored to my ICMezzo username in all places. You should be able to find links much more easily now, but if you continue to experience trouble and want some assistance, shoot me a message.

Thanks for your patience. I’m sorry there hasn’t been anything new from me lately, but I’m certain your inboxes are already full of new things to read this time of year. :)

They are all terrible horrible no good very bad cats. But they're also cute so I guess they can stick around. XD Really, they're fine. We had some minor cat-drama because we had to board one over Thanksgiving because she needs meds twice a day, and then when she came home the others thought she was an imposter because she smelled like The Bad Place. Then she was all clingy with me, and it made the other one jealous so then I had two clingy cats. Which, oh no, lots of cat-snuggles, what a terrible problem to have, right??

How's your little monster? Still getting into everything?

Awww, I understand this! Clingy is not always the treat it might seem. I'm glad they come with a solid serving of cute. That does help a good deal.

HollyMonster is hilarious and terrible and sassy, and I'm so glad she's got so much personality, but man, she gets bored really easily because she's a solo kitten (which I feel a bit bad about, but there is 0% chance that I'll get a second one).

So she gets bored and looks for something to do, and that something inevitably ends up being something I wish she wouldn't do, but at least she's not destructive to the house or furniture. Well, except my box spring to my bed. She has gotten inside of it, uses it as her personal playground, and no matter what I try, she'll find a way to get back into it. I've found it's better to just give in and let her play in there so she doesn't damage it further. This makes sleeping really fun some nights. WHAT IS MY LIFE. WHY ARE CATS.

Hey there! Thank you! And your new kitten sounds adorable. How did you manage to pick a sweet snuggly one? My Holly has grown into a sassy (hilarious) monster! (I say that fondly, of course.)

Well, actually he's not a kitten, I think he's about 6. I first met him in spring as a foster kitty from the Humane Society. I wasn't sure I could commit to a kitty for the very long term and my landlord was being kind of iffy about pets (he has since said it's ok), but I figured I could take foster kitties for a month or so at a time while they recovered from colds or took a bit of an R&R break from the stresses of shelter life or whatever. So Fitz came while he was recovering from some little thing, and he was a totally sweet boy. He had been surrendered by an owner who was elderly and not in good health, and he was a very affectionate kitty (if a bit rough on furniture). After a few weeks with me he was ready to go back and be put up for adoption, and I'd written a glowing recommendation for him and he got adopted right away, yay, and I had a different foster kitty for a few weeks. Later I got a call from the Humane Society and they said Fitz's new family had returned him because he didn't get along with their other cat, and when the vet gave him a health screening they found he was on the verge of going from stage 2 to stage 3 of kidney disease and at that point they don't think it can be reversed and they don't put them up for adoption, but rather look for someone to give them a foster hospice home. And since I'd recently had him as a foster kitty, they asked if I'd consider it. They would provide the special diet and vet care and everything, they just wanted him to have a comfy place to stay. And he had been such a sweet boy that I said okay. I was worried that he might go downhill fast but really, aside from peeing a lot (always in his box) and drinking a lot of water, he seems fine. It's been 5 months or so. I tend to forget that he is supposedly ill. He basks in the windowsill and snuggles and tries to rub his chin on my face and glasses (and drools) and is generally just a sweetie. So there may be heartbreak ahead but so far so good.

I remember having lots of kittens around as a kid - we had several unspayed females (that was in the 60's before there was much spay/neuter consciousness) and so there were always kittens. They seemed sort of bold and amoral. I think they develop into being affectionate later.

Oh, goodness, Fitz is lucky to have you, and I'm so glad to hear that he's doing well with you. This is sad and beautiful, too. I imagine he's such a sweet boy that he's good for you. I hope he remains healthy for a long, long, long time. <3

Bold and amoral is a perfect description for Holly right now. I hope that she settles a little as she gets older. It's fun and funny, but I'd be happy to ultimately end up with a sweet snuggler. :)
